Your phone already scans

Grey washed out results usually mean the software tried to guess a threshold from a shadow. Move the page away from the shadow rather than raising the contrast, because raising contrast on a bad capture removes faint print you may need later.

What to do after the scan

Scanned PDFs are large, because each page is a full resolution photograph. Set a size target and work down toward it. Scans have plenty to give, since most of each page is plain background.

If the paper is already a photo
